Meredith’s exploration of Cabbagetown mines her personal past using writing, walking and movement practices, photography, and video. Departing from her usual archaeological, historical, anthropological, and community-based methods that she has employed in her other place-based projects, this process is meant to prompt her own recollections (or forgettings) of her life in this neighborhood. Through these memory practices, Meredith seeks to produce for herself a more coherent narrative of her own experience that has been fragmented throughout the years. One of the goals is to reclaim parts of herself that have been relegated to the unconscious. In traversing this particular landscape, what has been hidden is allowed to surface.
